一、高校大学英语培养目标
近年来高校招生呈现学生类别多元化的状态，除一般统考生外，每年自主招生、农村学生单独招生、艺术类、高水平运动队、内地新疆班、少数民族预科班、贫困定向等类别学生占到我校当年新生计划的10%以上，且所占比例逐年增高。新生入学英语水平差异很大，大部分学生英语基础优良，也有相当一部分学生英语基础相对薄弱。很多学生在通过全国大学英语四、六级后就不再学习英语，感觉英语教学“吃不饱”，而基础薄弱的学生到毕业时仍未通过全国大学英语四级考试，感觉英语教学“难消化”。通过大学英语分层次教学模式的设置，使基础好的学生“吃得饱”，甚至“脱颖而出”，又能使基础薄弱的学生“听得懂”、“消化得了”。
针对这种情况，大学英语教学目标分为基础、一般、提高、发展四个等级（见表1）。分级目标的安排为大学英语课程设置的灵活性和开放性提供了空间，有利于满足不同需求的学生。
二、多元化分层次大学英语课程体系研究
（一）原则
深化大学英语分级教学改革，针对不同学生开设不同层次课程，对学生采用不同的评价方法，构建与学生英语水平相适应的课程体系及评价标准。
（1）对于入学基础薄弱的学生，使其大学英语目标达到毕业基本要求，对应的大学英语课程体系旨在让学生掌握英语基础知识，具有基础的听说读写译能力。
（2）对于入学英语基础较好，一般毕业后就业的学生，对应的大学英语课程体系旨在让学生提高英语综合素质。
（3）对于入学成绩优异的学生一般毕业后会继续攻读研究生，对应的大学英语课程体系旨在让学生为后续的专业深造打下良好的基础。
（4）对于有出国需求的学生，对应的大学英语课程体系旨在为学生后期出国交流学习奠定扎实的基础。
（二）结构
一、二年级学生开设基础英语，三、四年级学生开设专业英语及双语课程；同时开设多种英语选修课，使学生达到较高要求和更高要求。
（1）为基础非常薄弱的学生开设基础班，对应的大学英语课程体系：教授英语基础内容，开设四学期大学英语课程，256学时，16学分。
（2）普通班学生的大学英语课程体系：以培养方案中一二年级开设一级起点大学英语1、2、3、4级（16学分）或二级起点大学英语2、3、4级（12学分）和三四年级开设的英语专业课程、双语课程为核心，再配合以英语词汇学、涉外知识、视听英语、英文写作、中英文翻译、英语口语、大学英语5、大学英语6、英语演讲、英语辩论、英美文化课程供其选修，提高英语综合素质。
（3）卓越工程师创新班学生的大学英语课程体系：一二年级实施高阶英语1、2，以培养学生学术写作为轴，带动阅读、听说能力的综合提高，实施英语额定学分制，共12学分。三四年级开设必修专业外文文献阅读与翻译和科技英语阅读与写作等课程供其学习，提高外文阅读、翻译与写作能力。
（4）国际教育学院项目合作学生的大学英语课程体系：一年级入学开设大学英语四级（4学分）；第二学期开设必修雅思（4学分）；二年级开设电力英语阅读、学术英语写作等课程。
另外为了拓展学生英语文化素质，开设丰富多彩、形式多样的英语学习第二课堂。比如每年举办一期历时两个月的大学生英语文化艺术节，通过英语演讲比赛、英语写作比赛、英语翻译比赛、英语戏剧比赛及英语文化系列讲座等活动，进一步创建学习英语的良好氛围，提高广大同学学习英语的技能和热情。第一课堂和第二课堂相互呼应，营造良好的校园英语学习氛围。
（三）评价
（1）课内评价。基础班成绩最高为80分，如果学有余力，可以参加普通班考试，取其高。其他普通班学生如果提前修完大学英语四级的，可以提前参加全国大学英语四级考试，通过者可以选修大学英语五、大学英语六以及提高类课程和素质拓展类课程。
（2）课外拓展。为了鼓励学生拓展英语素质，提高英语学习的积极性和主动性，校内评优体系中对英语成绩优秀、获得英语学科竞赛优异成绩的学生给予鼓励倾斜政策。推荐优秀应届本科毕业生免试攻读硕士学位研究生奖励项目总分值65分中，外语奖励分值达27分，占总奖励分值的41.5%。
（四）保障
（1）制度保障。教学管理部门建立了一套完整的大学英语分级教学课程设置办法、选课办法、管理办法、考核评价制度等，规范运行。同时不断修订完善学生表彰、奖励管理规定，调动学生参与英语学习及参加英语竞赛的积极性；针对教师制定工作量激励办法、教学优秀推选办法，鼓励英语教师积极参与大学英语教学改革，不断提高英语教学质量，起了到师生共同努力，教学、学生管理部门齐抓共管的效果。
（2）硬件保障。改善大学英语教学模式需要硬件环境的保障，建立大学英语多媒体教室、大学英语多功能自主学习型语言实验室，完善大学英语教学改革研究室，机房优先保障大学英语教学改革听力课、测试课的使用。
（3）师资保障。选派优秀教师参加国内外培训，学习国外先进的英语教学理念与教育技术，提高英语教师教改研究能力，全面提高教师综合素质。选取专业过硬、责任心强的教师担任基础班、提高班教学，从教学内容、教学方法手段上下功夫，不断探索适合不同学生特点的课程教学方法，更新授课内容，提高讲课艺术，提高学生的学习兴趣，增强课堂吸引力。
三、分层次大学英语教学体系的实践
实践是检验真理的唯一标准。我校大学英语课程体系及分层次大学英语教学模式在原来多年分为“教改班”、“快班”和“普通班”三个层次的基础上，自2014级新生开始，实施了“普通班（内设基础班）”、“提高班”、“卓工班”、“国际合作班”四级分层次教学模式，并取得了良好效果。
英语基础班在2014-2015学年第一学期，《大学英语（1）》的及格率达到80%。第二学期《大学英语（2）》的及格率达到94.7%。通过一年的英语学习，所有基础班学生的英语能力都有了不同程度的提高。其中有4人参加了2015年6月的全国大学生英语四级考试，平均成绩为330分，对于基本没有英语基础仅学习了一年的学生，这是很大的进步。
2012级非英语专业本科生全国英语四级通过率为92.10%，2013级非英语专业本科生全国英语四级通过率为91.16%，持续6年通过率保持在90%以上。2014届毕业学生中469人考取研究生， 60人出国留学，占毕业生人数的23.8%；2015届毕业学生中476人考取研究生， 80人出国留学，占毕业生人数的23.7%。其中2014级国际合作班出国24人，出国人数占班级总人数的36.4%。
同时，丰富多彩、形式多样的英语学习第二课堂，营造了良好的校园英语学习氛围，学生参加校级、省级、部级英语竞赛屡获佳绩：我校学生在各类大学英语竞赛中2014年获部级奖149项、省级奖12项；2015年获部级奖134项、省级奖15项；其中2014级卓工班学生获大学英语竞赛部级奖7项。
